Employment Opportunities Habitat Birmingham is currently seeking applicants for construction and volunteer services positions through AmeriCorps National Direct. AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. National Service with Habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels to help us eliminate substandard housing. The Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. Nationals or lawful permanent residents ages 18 and older who have a high school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development. As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll gain new skills and experiences—and you’ll also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others. AmeriCorps members receive a modest living allowance. Our affiliate also provides housing that AmeriCorps members can rent for $75 a month. You may not save much money during your year of service, but most members find the living allowance to be adequate to cover their needs. AmeriCorps members who complete a term of service will receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $4,725 to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans. To apply to a Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps National Direct program, please send your resume to Jennifer Smith at [ email ]. Be sure to state which position you are applying for in the subject line of the email, “AmeriCorps Volunteer Services Position” or “AmeriCorps Construction Position.” For more information about the program, visit AmeriCorps .
