Apply for a New Home
 
Prospective homeowners are evaluated using three criteria:
   •  Need for quality, affordable housing
   •  Willingness to partner with Habitat Birmingham  through a minimum 300 sweat equity hours and 10 hours of homeowner education classes)
   •  Ability to repay a zero percent interest mortgage
 
Please review our Homeownership Manual  for further information. If you think you may qualify for Habitat Birmingham's housing program, please attend an Application Workshop.
 
Application Workshops are held every other month, alternating between Harvest Church in Fairfield and our Homeowner Workshop Center in Irondale. Workshops are traditionally held the first Tuesday of each month, beginning at 5:45 pm. To find out the location or more details on the next upcoming workshop,  please email Robyn.

Home Repairs and Rehabilitation
Habitat Birmingham's Home Repair Program is a great way to inspire and engage others to take action in revitalizing communities. The focus is critical repairs of existing homes – one home, one block, one neighborhood at a time. Repairs are related to general poor structural conditions, safety, landscaping and painting, as well as special needs including wheelchair ramps.
 
Habitat Birmingham is currently working to complete repairs for our currently approved applicants from across our service area. In addition, we have revitalization partnerships with the Mason City neighborhood in Birmingham and the City of Hoover. We are accepting applications for these two areas. Qualified applicants will provide proof of income, proof of homeownership and complete an application. Homeowners are responsible for repayment of a portion of materials costs, through a no-interest loan by Habitat. Please contact our office to inquire about these partnerships and to apply.
