Birmingham Iron adopted Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham as its nonprofit partner to tackle critical issues and make a positive difference in their community.
The Birmingham Iron support for Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham is part of The Alliance’s broader commitment to social responsibility, known as the Heart of the Alliance.
In March 2019 professional football players Jonathan Massaquoi (LB), Max Redfield (DB), Trent Richardson (RB), Jack Tocho (DB), and Colin Thompson (TE), along with Birmingham Iron executives and staff, spent their off day framing house walls at Legion Field.

A member of The Alliance of American Football, The Birmingham Iron is led by an experienced professional coaching, playing and front office staff featuring head coach Tim Lewis, team president Tom Ward and general manager Joe Pendry. The Iron compete in The Alliance of American Football with The Atlanta Legends, Orlando Apollos, Memphis Express, Arizona Hotshots, Salt Lake Stallions, San Antonio Commanders and San Diego Fleet. The name Birmingham Iron is inspired by the people that make up the city of Birmingham. Iron is one of three elements needed to make steel and make no mistake: This team is all about chemistry, both on the field and in the community, not to mention brings together rivals in the talent-rich state of Alabama, with players coming together in black, steel grey and silver. The Birmingham Iron, an Iron fist in the Alliance of American Football, promises a brand of football that will make Alabama proud.
